Challenging the field – takeaways from NordMedia 2019 

Scholars of communication and media studies gathered in Malmö on 21-23 August 2019.

Communication Rights in the Digital Age consortium was well represented at the NordMedia 2019 conference held at Malmö University. Implications of digitalization for citizens’ communication rights were discussed in several divisions.

Consortium members Marko Ala-Fossi, Jockum Hildén, Ilmari Hiltunen and Outi Puukko presented their work covering a broad range of topics such as the experiences of external interference among journalists, policymaking process of the GDPR, and evolvement of communication rights and media democratization movements.
